The Roanoke River Lighthouse is a replica of the Light Station that served from 1866 to 1886, when it was destroyed and includes exhibits on the port town's history. Located on the Plymouth waterfront, other nearby attractions include the Roanoke River Maritime Museum across the road and the Port o' Plymouth Museum located just down the street. The structure provides visitors a glimpse into the isolated life of a lighthouse keeper and the importance of the lighthouse in 19th century commerce.
